Expeditioner’s Views

On applying to this expedition, each expeditioner was asked to answer a number of questions. These dealt with what they wanted to get out of the expedition, examples of how they could work in a team as well as adapt to a situation, an environmental or social issue close to where they live, as well as what they were going to do after the expedition.
The following are extracts taken form applications forms, which sum up these young peoples views.

On TV you very rarely see the beauty of Africa, only the wars and political problems”

“The expedition will I’m sure teach me to be more self-reliant, but will also help me to understand more about teamwork and the benefits of it”

“I expect to learn the importance of friendship”

“When it comes to working in a team, I enjoy it because company can make fun things better and bad things more bearable”

“I am glad that there is more to the expedition than just signing up and getting on a plane. By being involved with the expedition from March till after the expedition ends allows for more chances to pick up a variety of skills and develop as a team with other members”
